Hey everyone,
I’m writing from The Dominican Republic. It’s my 4th day here and things are going great. I’m really enjoying my time here.
Sunday I was greeted at the airport by some of my dearest friends. I was able to go to the evening service at El Circulo. The pastor, Fausto Liriano preached from 1 John that God is love and His love is unconditional. I’m reading an Erwin McManus book right now called Soul Cravings. Considering the entire first 3rd of the book is about love, Fausto’s message fit perfectly in line with what God is teaching me right now. Kind of funny how God works like that. After the service most of the people from E.C. gathered for dinner at McDonalds. It was great getting reaquainted with old pals.
Monday I had meetings with Fausto where we discussed the current vision and plans of El Circulo. We brainstormed ways that Parkcrest could be apart of their churches mission. I’m excited for the relationship the El Circulo and Parkcrest are forming and for the amazing ministry that will be accomplished in the upcoming years… more on this later!
Tuesday Fausto, Lis and I visited the Cure International Hospital and delivered some medical supplies that were donated by the labor and delivery unit of Miller Children’s Hospital at Long Beach Memorial Medical center. Later, I had a meeting with the E.C. missions team where we discussed the projects they are currently working on and those they hope to start. I’ll post another blog at the end of my trip about the exciting plans E.C. has. After the missions meeting was the prayer meeting. This time was a mixture of praise and prayer.
Today I’ve been busy writing a lesson for the small groups tonight. Soon I’ll be leaving to pick up some medical supplies for a community called Cotui where we hope to run a medical clinic later this week.
I’m really enjoying this trip. The people are very loving. The food is amazing! When it rains, it rains hard but I’ve found joy in running down the street in the rain with my friend Cristabel. If you want to experience a moment of feeling freedom, run down the street in the pouring rain.
