In order to graduate next May (fingers crossed), I have to take a summer school class to meet some general education requirements. Since I also want to work this summer I found the class that met the least amount of time during the week. So I ended up in a Feminist Theory class and we had our first class meeting on Tuesday. It should be a very interesting class.
It’s a class that only meets once a week, so we have one topic each week to cover, and one of the weeks towards the end of the summer is Porno week, where we’ll talk about the effect of pornography on feminism. So it should definitely be an interesting class and should definitely stretch my brain.
And I’m sure I’ll have my fill of Cosmo magazines and Barbie Dolls.

I will be interested to hear how this class goes. When I was in school I took a Rhetorical Criticism class that really stretched my brain because we would take different things and critique them from different perspectives. For example, I did a rhetorical analysis on advertising, focusing specifically on print ads in different magazines, from the feminist perspective. It really opened my eyes to seeing ads in new ways. I kind of have an idea of what the whole feminist theory will say about pornography. I would love to hear what feminist theory has to say about Cosmo and Barbie too. Hehe. Fun.

Yah, I can feel myself already noticing things, especially in advertisements.
