I can sum up my first experience with Jury Duty in two words: I SAT.
But I earned a cool $15 and $0.34/mile for sitting a second day.
The first day (Tuesday) I sat until 2:30 in the afternoon, and thought I was going to be home free, until I got called in on a panel. Fifty-four other people went with me, listening to the Judge babble on about his time as a Juror, supplying us with useless information, delighted to waste our time. Needless to say, we got nowhere close to finishing the Jury selection process that day, so we were all ordered back at 10am the next day.
At 10:51am on Wednesday, we were let in to the courtroom, and the Judge told us the bad news, “It appears that you will not be able to try this case,†followed by the good news, “You are all excused.†People were smiling all the way home, and my first time as a prospective Juror came to a close.
