Yesterday afternoon I was mowing the lawn of my parents house. My dad was also outside, trimming the bushes and protecting the flowerbeds from the crows in our neighborhood. The birds like to eat the flowers in our flowerbeds and so my dad always has to devise a system to keep the birds out. It’s no ordinary system.
He takes golf club shafts (no club head, just shafts with grips on them) and sticks them into the flowerbeds a few feet apart. He then takes fishing line and wraps it around the golf club shafts, and also takes cd’s (like those free AOL ones that they spam you with) and feeds the fishing line through the holes in the middle of the cd’s. So when he got done, it looked like this crazy matrix of fishing line and cd’s reflecting the sunlight (apparently the reflection of the cd’s annoys the birds).
Anyway, all that to say that it got me thinking about possible uses for old cd’s — you know the one’s that are to scratched up to do anything with or those free ones you pick up that don’t have any use. So I made up a list of things you could use your old cd’s for. At my house we have about a foot high stack of useless old cd’s. So here’s my own list of uses:
–Scarecrow (see above)
–Coaster
–Frisbee
–Mirror
–Wall Decoration
–Lazy Susan
Since I know my list is far from exhaustive, I figured I’d Google to see if there were other ideas. So here are the search results.
Some of the interesting uses I found were:
1) Christmas Light Reflector
2) Clock
3) Template for a perfect Circle
4) Scarecrow (yah — somebody else does it too)
