The last day 36 hours haven’t been much fun for me, technologically speaking. My spring break started after my last class Thursday, so I thought it might be a good time to reformat the old hard drive, only to discover that trying to reinstall Windows is a nightmare. I’ve tried an endless number of installation cd’s, but my computer just isn’t cooperating the way I wish it would.
So I’m still in the middle of that, while also trying to deal with setting up the site, which is also a highly complicated chore. I think up to now I’ve tried about 7 different calendar applications, trying to find one that will work within the theme we’ve chosen. And the good news is that now I’ve finally got something that works, well, except for the fact that it isn’t deleting the “trial” events I put up. But it’s all good. As long as it works well enough.
If you look in the sidebar to the right under the ‘Categories’ heading, and click on events, a page will show up containing all of the events, past and present I’m guessing, although I haven’t tested that yet. But on this page you can see more details pertaining to each event than what is shown underneath the calendar. The other awesome feature is that you can leave comments on an event. So if you have questions about an event or just express your excitement for an event, you can do that too.
Anyway, still more features to come. Once I finish editing everything, I’ll post a ‘tour’ of the new space for 18-20 Somethings.

I just figured out a way to get around deleting events - put them in the past. I originally had an event listing for St. Patrick’s day while I was testing out the calendar, and when I edited it and put the event on March 1, the event doesn’t show up in the sidebar, nor does it show up on the events page. Just FYI.

Another thing to note about the calendar is that you can set it up so that events will be downloaded to your calendar program. However, this only works if you are using an iCal based program. This includes iCal (for you Mac users), Google Calendar, and another program that I’m forgetting right now. To download the calendar feed, click on the icon directly above the name of the month on the calendar.

I decided to take down the calendar, since it looked kinda odd in the sidebar, so you can’t get the iCal feed. Sorry.

that’s okay…i don’t even know how to use iCal. suggestion: what about making the gray font for the book info the same size as the smaller green font above? i think it might flow better. ur thoughts my dear?

I have to admit that I too was pretty curious to see what all the “comments” were about.
So I thought I’d help even up the Tyler vs. the World comment ratio.
I’m number six. Woo. We’re even with Tyler.
Although Lauren could be a plant by Tyler to make things appear as though he isn’t the only commenter. Hmmmmm.
It’s funny that Rob Bell named his book Sex God.
I was going to name my book that.
Keep up the hard work Tyler.
Overdrive band rocks!
