Do you remember about the Israelites in the desert, breaking apart the Tabernacle (which functioned as a portable Temple of God) each time God would show the people the need to move? During the last two months, El Circulo’s story has been somewhat like that: a Tabernacle in some version for Windows Vista or Mac OS X. After moving from the place we were thinking we’d be in a definitive place a couple of months later, the truth is that we’ve been during the past two months in two places and then we’ll need to move to another place where we’ll be for a couple of months until we have our definitive place. This has been a difficult decision, but with prices for locations for rent in Santo Domingo (very exaggerated!), the best decision we have taken is to buy property, instead of renting. The result: this past couple of moves and one last one where we will share with another church that has rented us their space for a few months.
What has been the result of all this motion? Dismay? Fatigue? No! On the contrary, just many opportunities for service. Our constant moving has allowed a full spectrum of opportunities to open for people who want to do something, strengthening the bonds between many of us, granting us the opportunity for people to use their gifts and at the same time helping us to be creative in the ways in which we offer our services (as in, “church services”). What could have been mortal in other cases, has been to our benefit.
Our plan: to be able to move in search of resources to buy a location that we can then expand, and make into El Circulo’s home, together with all the services we would like to offer the community and to those who surround us.
This has also been an incredible time for learning for me and Noelia as pastors, specifically in how we can invest in this work without getting tired in our relationship and disconnecting as a couple, and also how we complement each other to fulfill the work that God has called us to. She is excellent with things which I don’t usually even think about or even see, and in things which I have little or no ability. At the same time we’ve learned how to help other to give of themselves in service, something which we did not do well before, but in which we have little by little grown in this time of multiple opportunities.
PRAYER REQUESTS
1. For our location scouting, and for the financial resources to acquire it.
2. For this new stage in the life of El Circulo as a church, as well as our new projects: couples,
missions, as well as any help we can offer other congregations.
3. Giving thanks to the Lord because our finances are stable. God has been more than faithful and has maintained us, and we would love for you to give thanks with us.
4. For El Circulo’s leaders, who are giving everything so that things move forward.
5. For my brother Vladimir, who is in a very tough situation, and for my mother so that she may trust God through this process.
